| Stelvio Bike day 28.08.2010 Cycling day open to everyone... Struggle to get highest stretch of road in the Eastern Alps... Join this cycling experience in one of Italy's most famous mountains. Stelvio Bike Day is an open cycle tour - a unforgettable event- breathtaking mountain scenery. Many cyclers consider the Stelvio pass scenically the nicest of all the Alpine passes. It is possible to climb the Stelvio from two different sides: from Bormio and from Prato, both in Italy. However, it is also possible to reach the Stelvio from Switzerland, namely from Santa Maria. The toughest and the most spectacular climbing is the one from Prato ,with 48 hairpins. All three sides on 30.08.2008 will be closed from 8.00 a.m to 4 p.m for the traffic. Starting from Prato, the Stelvio Pass is 24,3 km long. Over this distance, you climb 1808 heightmeters. The average percentage is thus 7.4%. We wish you a very good day on the Stelvio.
