The National Park
The Stelvio - Stilfserjoch National Park is located in the heart of the Alps and extends to include the mountain chain of Ortler -
Cevedale. It is an alpine national park containing all typical forms,
elements and ecosystems, thanks to it’s huge range in altitude
from the high glacial mountains of 3900 m down to the valley floor
at 650 m.
Bordering with the Swiss national park it is characterised by the
great variety of alpine animals and plants. Stelvio National Park is
one of the largest protected areas in the Alps.

Visitor Centres
The National Park visitor centres are located in Prato allo Stelvio,
Martello, Trafoi and S. Geltrude in the Ultimo valley, and
accommodate interests for the local community and guests alike.
Each offers an exhibition on a specific subject and provides an
information service about the national parks, events, weather and
the condition of the paths.
